About
Unicorn Trails has been operating since 1988 and is one of the longest-running riding holiday specialists in the world. They have a strong ethical focus — welfare standards for horses are central to how they select and maintain their operator relationships.
Their catalogue is wide-ranging and accessible: prices tend to be slightly more approachable than some luxury operators, without sacrificing quality. They're particularly strong in Africa and India, where their local operator relationships have been built over decades.
Good for riders who want well-organised, thoughtful trips with a strong ethical backbone, at prices that don't require a second mortgage.
Who is this for?
Good for

- Those interested in Africa, India, and less-travelled destinations
- Intermediate to experienced riders wanting good value
- Riders who appreciate decades of built-up local operator relationships
Not ideal for

- Riders who want the most curated, hand-held experience
- Complete beginners with little riding confidence

Unicorn Trails organised a genuinely extraordinary week in Rajasthan. The horses — Marwari breed, with their distinctive inward-curling ears — were fit, willing, and beautifully schooled. The route took us through villages, across dry riverbeds, and into the dunes. Accommodation in restored havelis (traditional mansions) was exceptional. Flawless organisation throughout.
